«MODERN OLYMPIC GAMES»

“Exhibit8” Gallery, Limassol, Cyprus

"Modern Olympic Games" is a solo exhibition by Daria Fetisova that celebrates the intersection of art, sport, and culture, offering a unique perspective on the modern Olympic Games. Daria explores the concept of willpower and its pivotal role in striving for an ideal balance of mind, body, and soul. Her work questions, "What is will?" and seeks inspiration in the pursuit of excellence, epitomized by the Olympic Games.
Reflecting the Olympic motto "Citius, Altius, Fortius – Communiter" (Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together"), this exhibition highlights the unifying power of the Games, a tradition dating back to Ancient Greece, where art and sport collectively paused wars and conflicts. Artistic expression, an integral component of the Games, is vividly brought to life through Daria's work.
The exhibition features a diverse range of artistic mediums, each uniquely capturing a facet of the Olympic spirit. Alongside a series of canvases that depict various contemporary Olympic sports, intertwined with Cypriot landscapes, the exhibition includes "A Future Champion," a poignant portrait of a young aspiring athlete. This work illustrates the long and challenging journey to Olympic success, highlighting the dedication and youthfulness of those who dream of reaching the podium.

The aim of the project was to recreate a Zoroastrian temple through visual and physical metaphor, thus revealing the main religious idea of the era.

The interest in the chosen theme stems from the closeness of the idea that guides the Ashavans (followers of Asha, the righteous) to my own perception of the world.
It is based on personal choices, responsibility for each of them and freedom to accept Asha itself - the law of universal harmony, truth and goodness - and I see the project as a guide to this concept.

The project was awarded the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts
